  Nourishment for the Spirit

  my observation is that persons who 1) heal/adjust the most rapidly from their jw experience and 2) seem to have the most joy in life are those who read, read, read, in pursuit of what i call nourishment for the spirit.

  i've really enjoy the pithy aphorisms you use here, which suggests you've distilled some wisdom from somewhere.

  i'm going to ask your help in this thread.

  maximus has requested that i post the following, for jayhawk especially, and for others who are the living victims of the tragic act of suicide.. .

  while all suicides are devastating tragedies, jw suicides are especially hard to bear, depending on the viewpoint of the survivor.

  one person may be shattered, while another merely accepts the possibility of a resurrection of a loved one.

  this post and especially your lyrical words have helped save the life of someone very close and dear to me. I am profoundly thankful.

  Our organization, Society or whatever, is not in touch with the depths of the human condition, which tells me one more time that the Governing Body has no special relationship with the God of the Universe.

  Maximus, I am most grateful. I think you send the message that the individual is of paramount importance. Jayhawk1, you must feel special.

  A Question. Your Help Requested!

  there is something that i am not clear about in my mind, so i would much appreciate some input on this 2 part question.. i keep reading posts from persons who are desperate to leave the jw's.

  however, almost without exception, these persons state that they will be shunned by their families and friends.

  so, my first quesion is: do you mean that you will be officially disfellowshipped by the elders of your congregation if you simply opt to leave?.

  Every elder who reads the PR statement knows it is just that--a slick statement designed to lull outsiders like government officials, not to inform accurately or to tell the truth. Ask anyone in authority and he will tell you the web site is not policy they will recognize.

  The easiest way to enforce family shunning is for elders to state publicly that by your actions or course of conduct, you have disassociated yourself. The treatment is the same, of course. I've picked up and now use the term myself, ENFORCED SHUNNING. That's much clearer than the limp term DF. Even if you do not say or do anything but just "fade," persons may still subject you to shunning at their whim. That happens regularly.

  There is no such thing as back-dating a DF.

  Practice it, people, say it loud and clear now --

  maximus quoted this letter in another thread, and of course the letter is real.

  but it is a smoking gun, and i have now posted the scan of that part maximus quoted as evidence to the validity of the posting :).

  the society never said that armageddon would come in 1975, it was just a few brothers who went over the top.

  (so you dont remember the watchtower article why are you looking forward to 1975?

  : the naïve apostate, who says that the internet/paedophile issue/problem x is going to bring the Society crashing down in flames.

  Which apostate said that? Let's thrash him/her.

  Are you someone who was going to write to the media and now won't because you feel you have been adjudged as naive by a new authority on the board?

  We ought to be more careful in what we write in such sweeping statements that sway opinion so very easily. Labels stick.

  Give me someone with the courage of his/her convictions any day! I do not buy into their tarring us with the label "apostate" anyway. That's a purely artificial term, and I refuse to use it. EVER.

  URGENT! Need help!

  i just had a long conversation with my mother.

  she went into her "you know it's the truth" routine.

  in a nutshell, i told her that i have found too many discrepancies in the wts.. i told her abbout the 607bce date.
